Can you imagine if these people from a century ago saw how technology has progressed now?! Being around natural elements, such as water, fresh air, trees, earth, plants, stones...brings us back to center. Technology takes us away from the moment, causing disconnection from living reality. Though technology has brought so much interconnection and magic, we must remember to use these tools in balance for our good health. For every hour spent watching tv or being on the phone, spend an hour outside or connecting with a natural element. Your body & mind will feel✨👌✨👌✨👌✨👌✨👌✨ #gowiththeFLŌ

Can cure us of almost anything...why? Because it’s creating a positive thought. When given a placebo pill, the body isn’t actually receiving a chemical, rather, a message to feel better. When we provide ourselves with our own “placebos”, we send positive signals to our bodies, minds, & hearts that remind us of our instinctive ability to heal. Negative thinking creates the opposite effect: a negative chemical reaction, signaling our body to feel less at ease, triggering dis-ease.
Pick ya poison! (Or placebo)

I recently had a 5 year old boy ask, “How does this stuff work?!”...obviously I wasn’t going to tell him that plants are in complete biochemical harmony with our bodies (or get into how they work on an invisible energetic level)...so I went with this: “Plants are like inviting a really nice friend to come inside and hug all the parts of your body that need extra love & care. Most of the time, we don’t even have to tell them what to do, they just know how to help us feel good.”
This applies not only to herbal medicine, but also to the plants we incorporate into our daily meal intake. What kind of friends are you havin’ over?

As spring is getting sprung, we’ve gotta talk about dandelions! This yellow flower is the opposite of the weed we’ve been taught to spray and kill...in fact it comes up just in time for us to cleanse anything we may have accumulated during winter. 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱
Dandelion roots contain inulin and are also a bitter digestive tonic. Their action on the liver promotes a deep, cleansing restorative. The leaves and stems are a wonderful culinary herb, making for a perfect anti-inflammatory. 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱
The leaves can be eaten just like spinach: steamed or added to a salad. The older the leaves, the more bitter. 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱
We incorporate roasted dandelion root into our #herbalcoffee, as a wonderful addition to some adaptogens, like ashwaganda. 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱
When harvesting dandelion, ensure that it’s done ethically: not taking out the entire population, taking small amounts from various patches rather than wiping out an entire patch, and thanking the earth when you’ve taken only as much as you will use! The better soil quality, the better medicine. Best not to harvest from roadsides or areas of heavy pollution.

This question comes up often, and the easiest response is, “We’ve been doing it since the beginning of time and we’re still doing it, so something must be working.” 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
If you’re more of the “I need evidence” kind of person, have you ever had a cup of coffee? That’s plant medicine (although we used to just chew on a bean or two to fuel us, rather than chugging cuploads, but that’s another topic🧐). Plants are made of the same stuff we are. They need water💦 , sunlight☀️ ,food (soil)🍴, and fresh air🌬 to survive. They thrive even more when they’re surrounded by other plants (people) that support them💑.So it makes sense that when our bodies are treated with plants, we respond well. 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿 Humans and plants are in complete biochemical harmony with each other...the plants’ job is to enhance the cells of our bodies that need a little boost.
If you think about taking a quick-fix chemical drug, the body not only has to adapt to those foreign chemicals, but it’s also being forced to quickly heal at a fast rate (In some cases, chemical medicine can work really well). 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
Plants, on the other hand, enter our bodies gently and lovingly find the places that need healing, working on them gradually & with ease. So plant medicine works when we are patient, when we give the plant plenty of time and proper dosage to heal, and when we don’t rush it. Plant medicine doesn’t work when we over-use the plant (ie drinking coffee excessively over time weakens our energy levels) or when we under-use the plant (expecting our chronic back pain to go away after drinking one cup of white willow bark tea). 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
If you’ve had an experience with a plant treating you with love, feel free to share! 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
